MODEL/ Gia Carangi
about a model that ends up dying from the side effect of aids. I
started to watch the dvd with no great expectations, but since
those years have passed, the movie has stuck in my head. The
movie I am talking about is "Gia", the story of a successful model,
Gia Carangi from the 80s, that is beautiful, successful and has
her whole life looking positive. Unfortunately, Gia's state of mind
is not so together. She is needy (as are most human beings) and
alone. Unfortunately she turns to heroin, loses her closest loved
ones, betrays her family and ruins her life. In the end, Gia does
not die from heroin or aids (in the sense of the word), she dies
from pneumonia, brought on by her decreased immune system
which aids has caused.
It is hard to see someone who was almost handed success on a
platter, plummet in to a downward spiral. But I think this story
has an amazing moral behind it - that you may just see a face
that someone puts on for the camera, and you may imagine them
to have a perfect life, but behind that mask they can be lonely,
sad and incomplete. I like to imagine that if she had not died of
pneumonia, that Gia would have recovered from heroin addiction
(although it is rare) and had a nice life with her wonderful
girlfriend, Sandy Linter (make up artist).
To me, Gia is the epitome of beauty and mystery. Despite her
dramas, she did take some amazing photos, which I have
collected for you to see in the rest of this post :)

FASHION/ Urban Outfitters Spring 10
Funnily enough, I have to admit that I have never really paid
much attention to the fashion label, Urban Outfitters, I guess
it could be because I live in Australia and we haven't really had
the opportunity to purchase it, prior to internet shopping. Their
new collection for Spring 2010 has really caught my eye, maybe
it is because of the soft innocent feel of the pictures or possibly
the retro feeling of the designs with floral fabric, straw hats and
striped bathing suits. For whatever reason it may be, I think,
this is a really, feminine, beautiful collection, where I wish I
owned every piece :)

STYLE/ Random Snaps
I have been saving these images for quite some time, trying
to save up my favourite collection. I guess I should probably
mention what the theme is, it could be helpful, well, today's
random snaps collection is based on lace, beautiful, romantic,
pretty, innocent, sexy, dreamy and feminine, so many
emotions can be conjured up from a single piece of designed
thread. Whether it is a lovely dress, beautiful curtain or a
Sofia Coppola movie, lace seems to catch my eye wherever I
look recently.

FASHION/ MINKPINK
MINKPINK is an adorable fashion label that started up in Sydney, Australia
in early 2005. Their collections, which are feminine in nature, manage to
perfectly combine vintage and street style fashion. From fun summer dresses
to designer-inspired swimwear, there is always something that catches my
eye. My sister initially introduced me to this label a few years ago, and I
have been in love with it ever since. What is perfect about their dresses is
that they are so versatile, and are suitable to wear during the daytime or
out at night.

FASHION/ Street Style
In this weeks picks of favourite street style fashion, there is a strong
influence on feminine style. Wether it is lace, crystals, stockings or
frills, there seems to be a strong emphasis on feminine looks, from
all across the globe, or maybe it is just what my eye seems to be
drawn to at the moment. My mum actually noticed the feature on
jackets in all of these photos, it is quite funny to think that you may
have subconsciously picked a similar piece of clothing without
knowing it, but my original idea was to pick clothing with a beautiful
mix of feminine amongst masculine, I hope you enjoy it.
And here is the rest of it.

FASHION/ Random Snaps
Recently I have been staying with my younger sister Erin, and I
realised what amazing taste she has, not that I have ever doubted
her talent, but when she offered to create a random snaps post for
me I was so impressed with her visual eye. Erin currently studies
digital media and runs her own blog, inspiration for creative people.
