FASHION WEEK/ Update #3
NEWS/ Australian Fashion Week
Some interesting and controversial events have arisen out of the
latest Australian fashion week that have affected both designers
and models. Usually fashion week runs smoothly without a single
hitch, here is a nice little summary of the events for you.
1. Model Stephanie Carta was pulled from the catwalk at the last
moment after organisers deemed the model too thin. Carta's agency
became concerned after she returned from a stay over in Paris and
came back thin and frail. The model claimed that she promises that
she will eat and look after her health. Less then 24 hours after making
that promise, she was put back on the catwalk. Let's hope that the
model keeps her promise.
2. Designer Kate Sylvester sent her models down the catwalk bearing
war medals. This comes days after Australian war rememberence day,
Anzac Day. The medals are those which people in the army received
after fighting for their country and their lives, not for models to wear
as a fashion accessory. This has upset a number of people, but the
designer says she did not intend to disrespect servicemen and is sorry.

STYLE/ My Favourite Things
This week a lot of my favourite things focus on Australian and
New Zealand (our neighbor) designers and style. From dresses
to cute little random pieces that really stand out, I hope that
you find something that you will love as much as I do.
And here is the rest of it.
These dresses are by an Australian designer called Fleur Wood.
She uses the most amazing, feminine and comfortable fabrics.
I love these dresses because they are great for day or night,
summer or winter or whether you are tall or short. These
dresses are very versatile, and although they look delicate,
they are very durable and last for a long time.
Website: http://www.fleurwood.com
I love Karen Walker's designs, she is so talented and has
designed eye wear, clothing and of course her beautiful
jewelry. The designs range from simple silver leaves on a
long chain to sparkly blue owl rings. The jewelry often
represents animals or nature, which is original and endearing.
See: http://www.karenwalkerjewellery.com
Kym Ellery is the Australian designer of fashion label Ellery.
Ellery is made up of beautiful pieces that are iconic of the
1970s glamor mixed with a bit of rock'n'roll. The Ellery bell
sleeved dress is no exception, it is bright purple, so is only
for those who don't mind standing out from the crowd.
Although it has a short hem, it doesnt have a tight waist so
is great for all sized ladies, and the long sleeves compensate
for not showing too much skin.
See: http://www.elleryland.com/
Label Chronicles of Never have come up with really modern
and originally designed rings. They are thick and chunky and
made from darkened brass. I think I am really drawn to these
obscure rings because they remind me of the film 'The
Labyrinth' with David Bowie. The designer is actually an old
Ksubi/ Tsubi member named Gareth Moody. I'm sure you will
see lots more of this label in time to come.
Buy: http://www.chroniclesofnever.com
I know it can sound a bit nerdy, and maybe its because I can
be such a homebody at times, but I LOVE to cook at home.
Things always taste better, it is more rewarding and you are
teaching your mind when you cook at home, not to mention
that you save a heck load of money. When you cook at home, you
can add or leave out ingredients that you don't like (i REALLY
don't like cucumber, and my partner really hates nuts). You can
be a lot more healthy when you cook yourself, a lot of takeaway
places use lots of butter and salt, you can replace this just
as well with a healthier choice like olive oil. There are some
great websites online that have yummy delicious recipes.
Cook: http://greenavocado.com
Chip Chop started off making cute little tote bags, now we are
lucky enough that they have branched into t shirts and more
bags! I have to say my new favourite item is the denim vest, I
think this is one of the coolest pieces of design I have seen in
a long time. Following on with their simple designs and 1970s
hippie feel, this vest does not lead far from that, it is the perfect
design to add to any outfit to make you feel that bit cooler.

WEB/ My Favourite Websites
Here are a couple of my current favorite websites. They are my
favourites because they are either individual or inspiring, or both.
What are some of your favorite websites?
And here is the rest of it.
Title: Elle Girl
Link: http://ellegirl.elle.com
What: Even though Elle Girl is marketed as the 'younger girls'
Elle magazine, I still really love it. The fashion shoots are bright,
the graphic design is modern and the styling is really cool and
chic. There website doesn't dissapoint either, it is very inspiring
fashion wise
Title: Oh no they didnt
Link: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/
What: This website is more up to date on celebrity gossip then
your favourite gossip mags. It is a community where people can
post news and rumours (which usually end up being true) at any
time. This is very addictive though I must warn you
Title: Frankie
Link: http://www.frankie.com.au
What: Frankie is an Australian magazine that highlights artists,
designers and beautiful articles. Their website is quite similar to
the content of their magazine, there are cute backgrounds you
can download, a forum where you can talk about music and
shopping as well as lovely pretty designs.
Title: The Presets
Link: http://thepresets.com
What: If you are a fan of Australian band The Presets, you
will have probably visited their website. For me, it is really
inspiring because it pushes the limits of your average website.
It was created by Australian designer Jonathan Zawada and
features filmed footage and a really experimental layout. I
recommend you check out the website if you are interested
in design or would like to see a really original website.

ICON/ Chloe Sevigny
Chloe is one of my favourite individual young actresses in the
world today. Her style is a mix between designer fashion and
vintage finds, she manages to mix and match and often starts
a lot of celebrity trends. Come and find out a little bit more
about this eccentric cool young actress.
And here is the rest of it.

On being a star: "I’ll never be a star in America. It’s fine. I don’t want to be. Not in that way. In a Sissy Spacek way, in a Shelley Duvall way, in a Sandy Dennis way, that’s how I’d like to be a star. But movies aren’t as good now as they were in the ‘70s.” Chloe Sevigny"
On her personality: "I am most proud of my integrity and least proud of my cynicism."

STYLE/ My Favourite Things
From indie film makers to designer products that I love. This
week my favourite things are all about inspiration, from beautiful
colours to stylish designs. I hope that you will come and fall in
love with these things like I have.
And here is the rest of it.
Not only does this brand have a cute and quirky name, it also has cute
and quirky designs. Their products range from folky looking jewelry, bags
and belts. The colours range from mustard yellows to black, and the
fabrics range from rope to leather. Deadly Ponies hails from Australia's
next door neighbor, New Zealand.
Website: http://www.deadlyponies.com
Tristan Blair makes the kind of thick chunky, modern, hot, sexy shoes
that I could only dream about. These are the types of shoes that will
stop a crowd in a room and still let you walk around the city all night
or around work all day. Tristan Blair is an Australian designer who I think we
will see dominating the world with awesome shoes.
See: http://www.tristanblair.com/
I originally decided to watch the film 'Paranoid Park' because I am
a fan of the writer and director Gus Van Sant (Elephant, To Die For,
My Own Private Idaho). He isn't for everyone, but his beautiful
photography-like direction, lovely scenery and pure honesty, makes
me a huge fan of his work. This film did not disappoint. The story
follows a young boy who is into skateboarding, even though I
am not, I still loved the film. One night this young boy goes out to
a skate park and accidentally kills a security guard. Paranoid Park
follows the issues of the young such as acceptance, love, sex and
drinking. This film is innocent, raw and really visually lovely to watch.
Plus the soundtrack is amazing.
Watch: www.paranoidpark.co.uk
While I was doing work experience at a magazine earlier this year,
I cam across these beautiful and simple clothes by a brand called
Rittenhouse. Their collection contains simple pieces that every woman
should have in her wardrobe, like t shirts, denim dresses, black skirts
and puff sleeved tops. Their colours are made up of dark greys, blues
and blacks. Some of their pieces have cute little pockets and some have these lovely cloud prints. They are great pieces to mix and match or pair with
bright heels.
Buy: http://www.rittenhouse.com.au/
Common Projects create shoes that are made of simple colours
and styles. They use black, white, grey and soft blues. They are the
ultimate sneaker, although I am not sure how hard they would be
to keep clean, they are THAT perfect. They are very simple, they
don't contain bright stitching or any extra details, they are clean and
as minimalist as you can get. This just makes them easier to style with
a pair of jeans, shorts or a dress. Oh and by the way, they are for guys
and girls
Buy: http://www.commonprojects.com/
When I was in high school I had a lomograph camera. Now when I
look back at the photos from my childhood they look really fun and
interesting compared to a lot of the ones that I thought were cool
at the time... but now I am like 'what was I thinking?'. Lomographs
come in all shapes and sizes with all types of effects and styles. You
can get ones that change the colour of your photos, you can get
ones that distort the look (fish eye) and you can get ones that
duplicate the image about four times. The cameras themselves are
designed with a retro look and are cool to just carry around in your
bag for when you see something you want to snap that would look
great with a red flash or rounded distortion. Once you own one lomo
camera though, you will definitely want them all ;)

WORLD/ Cerabral Palsy
I was recently watching the news when a documentary on
Miss Iowa 2008 came on. If you haven't heard of her, she
has cerebral palsy, and is the first contestant to be in the
TOP 50 for Miss America with a disability. Abbey Curran is
young, strong, beautiful, talented and is a big inspiration to
me and my family. The fact is that my finance has cerebral
palsy too, and he inspires me every day through his combat
of discrimination, his intelligence and his love. In this post I
thought I might introduce you to the life of cerebral palsy and
what my life is like living with someone with the condition.
And here is the rest of it.
My boyfriend, Paul, has had cerebral palsy since birth, so growing up with it, he doesn't see life any other way. He can drive (heck, I cant even drive), he is smart and actually works in the IT industry (computers), he has been to university and lived in many cool and exciting places. Most of all, he is the love of my life and an inspiration to me in every single way. I have been told by my family that they find him inspiring too.
There are two types of Cerebral Palsy. Paul has a bit more trouble controlling his muscles, so sometimes I might get a bump, but i find it hilarious and have grown to love it. Paul can read, talk, cuddle, bathe and do mainly anything your average person can do. The only thing he can't do is write, so that is where the computer comes in handy.
As you walk down the road you do get the odd stare. I think people need to be more educated when it comes to treating people with disabilities, just like any other person. Who knows, someone with a disability might be smarter than you! ;) But eventually you just learn to ignore the stares of others, and keep going your way. Another problem we've run into is ignorant security guards, who regard Paul as drunk - it's like "no mate, I have a disability". One day this world will be educated.
Having a disability isn't always easy, it takes more concentration to compose the most basic of tasks, such as putting sugar in your coffee. Walking up an uneven hill leads to the problem of balance and stepping, but with a little help and positive thoughts, there is no doubt you can do anything in the end.
Another problem that comes with having a disability is that of your emotions and self worth. We grow up in a society that tells us what is right and what is wrong, so if you are in the wrong section, are you just supposed to crawl into a ball and hide? No! Not if you are like Paul. You could go to some great confidence building courses, surround yourself with friends who love you and most of all discover who you are and what you like and love.
One night at a club I saw Paul, and my eyes were instantly drawn to this magnificent boy sitting on the couch, smiling quietly. I am a bit 'rambunctious' and immediately fell in love with this enigma. He bought me a drink and dropped me home (no, no naughty stuff afterwards).
The thing I would most like to get people to understand is that a disability, such as cerebral palsy, does not make you any less smart than other people. People will often speak slower to Paul, or not know what sorts of things he will understand, but Paul is probably the smartest person I know, so it is quite funny to see people treat him like he is from another world, and like he can't understand a single thing. I believe that as more people become educated about cerebral palsy they will hopefully understand people with this condition are just as smart, funny and ambitious as the rest of the world.
In my first few days with Paul, I still didn't know what he was totally capable of. He drove, he made good money, and slowly I found out he was capable of teaching me lessons in life that I had not yet grasped. I discovered that he was my soul mate. Things like coordination problems, that I may have first noticed, I find I don't notice at all now. As Paul says, 'I'm just a regular guy'. But he is my soul mate, the love of my life and my dream come true. I hope he one day writes a book to inspire the rest of the world, as he has so much knowledge to share.
Here is a little bit more of a summary...
What is Cerebral Palsy: Cerebral palsy means 'brain paralysis'. It is a disability that affects movement and body position
How do you get it, is it hereditary? : No it is not hereditary. It comes from brain damage that happened before the baby was born, at birth, or as a baby
Types of cerebral palsy: There are two types, although it can be different in every child. There is either stiffness of the muscles or looseness of the muscles
Is there a cure?: Not at the moment, but there are a lot of physical therapies that can be used to make the persons life easier
Did you know 1: Actor Colin Farrell's son has cerebral palsy, as does David Cameron who is in British politics, and Laura San Giacomo who is an actress (she was the main actress in the sitcom 'Just Shoot Me')
Did you know 2: Botox was actually invented to inject into the muscles of people with cerebral palsy in order to improve movement, particularly in the arms.

WEB/ Blogs of the Week
From socialites personal blogs, to inspiring creative websites,
I have listed and reviewed some of my favourite website of
the week. So take a look if you need some new websites to
inspire or entertain.
And here is the rest of it.
Title: Book by its Cover
What: This website contains covers of books that will inspire you, they are new and old, arty and classic. Not only do you get scans of the covers, you will also get to read a summary as well as seeing some pages inside the book. I find this one of the most inspiring and time consuming websites, there are so many great books out there. Believe me, after you visit this website, you will feel like making your own book.
Title: 3GB Community
Link: join 3gb community www.3gb.biz
What: Are you sick of other community websites like facebook and myspace? Well I was so I went on search for a new one, and I found one called 3GB. It is only new, but it is neat and has lots of cool applications such as photo uploader, mp3 player and a nice layout. This is somewhere that I can actually add my family, which is what I was after, it is alot more 'parent friendly' and it will be easy for both you and them to use. And because its new and neater, it doesn't attract all those creepy old men and stalker like the other websites. YAY!
Title: Just Jared
What: Just Jared is a celebrity picture blog. I am a huge fan of celebrity images, and through my 'research' I believe that this website is the most up to date and often exclusive with the latest model and celeb pics. You will get your ultimate fix of pictures, no matter what celebrity you are in to. I can guarantee almost all of your favourite gossip website will come here for their celeb image fix, so come here and see it before the rest of the crowd
Title: Cory Kennedy
What: If you were/are a fan of LA Photographer website the cobrasnake, you will have heard of the intern turned socialite Cory Kennedy, who became famous for appearing on the website with her original sense of style. Well this young lady has her very own blog, full of personal feedback of friends, designers, la, photographs, problems and much more. It can be quite entertaining and insightful. It is a great read for your lunch time break and also updated about every two days

BEAUTY/ My Favourite Beauty Products
I have so much fun writing about my favourite beauty products,
that I thought I would dedicate the occasional post to it. I like to
focus on products I used and like, even better if they aren't on the
expensive side, and if they are, that they work. So if you are in
the mode for new beauty products, here are my recommendations.
And here is the rest of it.
BODYWASH/ ST. IVES SWISS VANILLA
Imagine being in a nice warm shower and rubbing vanilla bodywash all over you, then you get out of the shower and you smell like such yummy vanilla you consider licking it off your arm. You walk around for the next couple of days with soft skins, and getting wifts of yummy vanilla. Well all this is a possibility, simply through my all time favourite body wash, St. Ives Swiss Vanilla Wash. They use pure vanilla essence and vitamin e cream, which is very good for your skin, they are also dermatologist and hypo-allergenic tested, so it is all looking great for the care of your skin.
Website: http://www.stives.com/
HAIR/ DESIGNER COLLECTIONS
It is always exciting news when you hear three of your favourite Australiab=n fashion designers have come together with renowned hair brand Sunsilk to collaborate and make their own individual shampoo and condition. Not only do the bottles look nice sitting on the shelves of my bathroom, but they smell REALLY good, and that nice sent lasts for ages. The designers who have collaborated are Collette Dinnigan, Alice McCall and Peter Morrissey, which I believe is the perfect one for the boyfiend. These haircare products dont just look good, they do the trick
Watch: http://www.mikeandchris.com/
NAILS/ NAIL POLISH
For Christmas my mum surprised me with three little sweet and very colourful nail polishes. I love to have a variety of polishes on hand, they can change a comlete outft you know. Thats why the more great ones you own, the more opporunity to mix and match. The great thing about OPI nailpolishes is that they last forever (after a couple of layers) and they have created the coolest colours like white, bright pink, sexy reds and dark brown. Whatever mood you in OPI is sure to have a coloue that will isnprire your new night out
Buy: http://www.opi.com/India.asp
BODY/ MOISTURISER
Kiehls 'creme de corps' is a moisturiser for your whole body. As soon as you get out of a nice warm shower, rub this soft creme all over your body and it will leave it feeling smooth and smelling nice. Friends of mine that have used it who have had really dry skin say it is one of the best all over moisturisers they have ever used. So although it is important to look after your face, dont forget the rest of your body. The best thing is that this product is not tested on animals.
Buy: http://www.kiehls.com
SKIN/ FOUNDATION
Another one of the beauty products I discovered through my mother. When I first started wearing make up I was given Clinique Superbalanced makeup. This foundation is one of the best Ive ever used, it is non oily and actually covers your skin with a nice natural and really effective tone. This foundation contains moisturiser but at the same time it is also oil free (yay!) and leaves you with this silky look over your face. I recommend this foundation for any skin tone, even if you have really dry skin, it really does work wonders.
Buy:http://www.clinique.com
MASCARA/ MAYBELLINE GREAT LASH
Not only is this mascara cheap, it actually works! Fancy that. Maybelline great lash mascara has been around for years, this just proves that it is effective and a classic. You can find it in all your local supermarkets. It is thick, but not clumpy, lengthening but not fake and it lasts for ages, without drying up and becoming sticky. I gaurantee that once you try this you wont believe you spent so much money on 'designer' mascaras that let you donwn.

MODELS/ TOP 10
Websites and magazines are always picking their top ten new faces
or current famous faces of models that will stand out this year. So
i have gone ahead and put together my own list of top ten models,
this will be my top ten for maybe, 2 months, and I have chosen them
because of their individuality, beauty and talent ;) I hope you enjoy.
Be sure to let me know which model you love.
And here is the rest of it.
TEN MASHA TYELNA
At first I was a little apprehensive of Masha. Her eyes are certainly very large, and the rest of her features are pixie like in comparison. If you are not a fan yet, give her a little bit more time, she definitely does rub off on you. Hailing from the Ukraine, Masha's pale skin and slight frame definitely enable her to stand out from the crowd.
NINE JOSEPHIN HEDSTROM
This pretty young thing hails from Sweden. With her blond hair, blue eyes and pale skin, she could easily be thrown into the world of commercial modeling, but for some reason I believe that she has more in her then just that. She is starring in the Benneton campaign, and I hope to see her face all over magazines and runways soon enough.
EIGHT/ NATALIA CHABANENKO
This lovely lady has walked the runway for some of my favourite labels such as Miu Miu and Prada. She is only quite new to the modeling world but has already shot some amazing fashion shoots. Natalia has the ultimate cat eyes and innocent yet dominating face, she is eye catching and I think she will do wonderful great big campaigns in the near future
SEVEN ANABELA BELIKOVA
To me, Anabela is like the new generation Gemma Ward. She has a similar alien look, that has landed her a spot in the Miu Miu runway. She has a round doll like face, wide set eyes. She is perfect for both commercial and high end work and looks fantastic whether she has natural or artistic makeup up. This lady will definitely be everywhere soon.
SIX LOVISA INGMAN
Lovisa is a young lady with big innocent blue eyes and lovely thick eyebrows. She manages many varieties of intense expressions through her photos, yet still manages to maintain a lovely softness to her, which is a great combination.
FIVE AGNETE HEGELUND
Agnete is one heck of a versatile model, one moment she can look sweet and classy and the next she can look raw and rock'n'roll.Agnete has starred in shoots with the lovely new model bellow, Kamila. She has a mature modeling look with a young vibrance to her. I have a feeling we will be seeing miss Agnete in a lot of the upcoming major campaigns.
FOUR KAMILA FILIPCIKOVA
Although Kamila is about as new as they come in the modeling world, she has already scored a campaign with Feretti as well as a number of the best and most exciting editorials. She has lovely quirky features, which make her very interesting to look at on the runway or in magazines. She has a cute freckle on her lip and a cool piercing through her eyebrow, this isn't what you would usually see appearing on top models, but Kamila is here to add a bit of variety to life.
THREE SIRI TOLLEROD
Siri isn't exactly new on the scene but she still has an amazing appeal and fresh look that most brand new models have. She is always in new cool campaigns and always seems to get really great pretty fashion shoots. Whether she has to look classy on the runway or characteristic on a fashion shoot, she managaes a perfect medium to seem to win both of those over.
TWO GANTZ GILLES
With long flowing hair and long limbs, this girl is definitely one to watch. Gantz has walked the runway for amazing renowned designers such as Anna Sui an Marc Jacobs. And since she is only new, this looks very promising. Gantz has a haunted look behind her big dark eyes, to me this is what makes her a little more deep and appealing then a lot of other models.
ONE DIANA FARKHULLINA
To me, this girl is like a delicate little doll. She has walked in New York for Calvin Klein and in Italy for Jil Sander. She is very versatile, at one moment she can look like the girl next door, next she looks like a stylish little alien and then she can look like a supermodel. I think Diana has what it takes to make it big. With pouty lips and long blonde hair, I'm sure she will show New York what models are made of.
STREET STYLE/ Picks of the Week
Some ladies out there have a really wonderful and very
individual sense of style. Although you may not like a whole
outfit, you may be inspired by a hairstyle or one piece of the
outfit. No matter what you like, some of the best and most
original inspiration comes from streets style

STYLE/ My Favourite Things
This week I show you my favourite original and inspiring
jewelry designers, since I know a lot of you are studying
jewelry design, I take a look at some great designers with
a new fashion on style as well as a beauty life save that
does not cost the world. I hope you enjoy
And here is the rest of it.
JEWELRY/ ALEX&CHLOE NECKLACE
Alex and Chloe are designers who create special originally designed jewelry. They have an unsuaul and modern touch and are created from material such as perspex and plastic. You will feel one of a kind and very cool with a piece of their work on. From melting words such as Love or the Chanel symbol, to diamonds, spikes and pyramids. One thing for sure is that one of their necklaces adds a whole new dimension to any outfit.
Website: http://alexandchloe.com/
STYLE/ MIKE & CHRIS
Mike and Chris create clothes that are versatile and look darn good. With clothing ranging from zip up hoodies, v neck dresses and trench coats with bows. They really do create the type of clothing you can throw on and feel automatically stylish in. The fabrics range from cashmere to cotton and the colours are sort of dark and earthy. This husband and wife team know how to create great original and wearable designs.

TUNES/ THE KNIFE
The knife are a band from Sweden. I could best describe their sound as a mix of pop, electronic and 80s synth. They are one of the best bands I have ever heard (not to build them up or anything) they are good for a car ride, getting ready for a night out, while drawing or even just to have on in the background. Their sounds is an eerie mix of electronic experiments and haunting vocals. With a dark and surreal vibe to everything from their music to their designs, the Knife difenatly stand out as one of the most modern bands of our generation.

ART/ FAFI
Fafi is a cute little French graffitti artist. She began her career by spray painting these little sexy characters on the walls of Paris, then leading to New York and all over Europe. Eventually people started to realise her talent. Now she designs bags for Nike and is sent all over the world to be involved in exhibitions and books. So check out her cute little drawings with a WHOLE lotta character,

STYLE/ RUNAWAY LOVERS
This is a cute little Australian label with a really alternative look. Their collection is made up of items such as flannelet dresses, shiny footless black tites and berets . Their latest collection is said to capture the inner tomboy, but believe me, you still feel darn feminine and hot wearing their clothes. It is almost like wearing the clothes of a rockstar, or as they say, it is a cross between Michael Hutchins and Kylie Minogue, two very stylish and individual dressers. So whether it is something tye dye or something metalic, try on a peice of their clothing and you will feel like your very own rockstar

BEAUTY/ WITCH HAZEL
If you are like me and you can't afford expensive designer makeup and cleansers, then I have the perfect solution for you. I went into a chemist one day, because I had run out of toner, I looked down and saw this toner called 'Witch Hazel'. It was cheap and the container looked nice (not to be shallow), so I purchased it. I have now been using it ever since that day and I must say it works extremely well. Witch hazel is herbal, and a great solution for skin of all types. While researching this product I found out that it is actually an old fashioned remody that you can use on cutes, bruises, sunburn and more. So if you are next in your supermarket I suggest you pick up this non expensive life save ;)

SHOP/ Mother Day
Well kids, mothers day is coming up (hi mum!) and I thought
I would do a post on a couple of gifts that your mother might
like. My mum always says she would just like a card, but its
not the same as a present, so come and take a look and
hopefully find something your mum will adore.
And here is the rest of it.
DIGITAL PHOTO FRAME
Digital photo frames are a great way for you mum to display her photos of your lovely Christmas vacation or other family memories. The great thing about digital frames is that they are easy to use and look great, you just put in your camera card and the frame can display a couple of photos. Mums will love it, and they don't have to be technical savvy either because they are so simple to use. You can choose from a number of different sizes and colours, and if you go to a wholesale website like the one I have linked digital photo frames , you can probably save more money then what they sell it for in stores.
Buy: digital photo frame
CANDLE HOLDERS
Candles are a lovely idea, your mum can place them around her house or the next time she wanted to have a dinner party. If your mum is more modern, I would suggest big thick red candle holders like the ones above, they are classic and very versatile.
Buy: Designer Furniture
MAKE UP
If your mum is anything like mine, she would absolutly love some nice makeup for mothers day. From a nice skin toned nailpolish to a natural lipstick, natural tones of makeup are a great way to go for a mothers day gift. If you go to a website such as the one i have linked, you can get great deals on makeup by estee lauder, yves st. laurent and chanel, so take a look and be inspire by the amount of wonderful colours and styles they have available. Oh and by the way, they are an international makeup website

STYLE/ My Favourite Things
This week I am in love with talented and quirky artists, amazing
and quirky new movies, stylish and crazy quirky musicians and all
other things that are out of the every day, so come and take a
look and I hope you find something you like to.
And here is the rest of it.
DRINK/ VITAMIN WATER
My boyfriend is a coca-cola addict, so to tone down the amount of caffeine
he has, he turned to Vitamin Water. One night while we were looking in a
supermarket fridge for a drink, this pretty pink coloured drink stood out.
Not only does it contain vitamins, it also tastes REALLY yummy, like lolly
water, and the great thing is that it comes in all of these flavours such
as kiwi, strawberry, dragonfruit and anything you can imagine. There are
a couple of different brands out there, I'm sure eventually I'll get to try
them all, but so far Vitamin Water is my favourite. I recommend it for those
days when you are feeling like a drink but don't want to go for the cola or
the coffee. It is delicious, im sure you will go back for more.
HEALTH/ SEDONA METHOD
I have gone through times in my life where I have experienced anxiety, so I really appreciate the use of ideas such as meditation to get your mind and soul back into a good calm place. I believe that your mind is strong enough to resolve some things in your life without the use of chemicals. The Sedona method focuses on bringing positivity into your life by the use of meditation. It is kind of like that film 'The Secret' which im sure most of us have watched, but this method is a bit more personal and has less of an ego. I wish I had known about this techniques when I was younger, it would have been a great help. It is great because it teaches you about letting go, so whatever is holding you back right now, your fears, your uncertainness and your lack of confidence will be left behind and let your mind and soul move on and grow. The Sedona method helps you to let go of what has been and what could have been and teaches you to live right now in the present, really what this method is, is a peaceful revolution. As you learn to let go, your life goals may change from what you have always felt you 'must' or 'should' achieve to ones that are actually part of our true life purpose. This website will give you a free dvd and cd to start off your meditation
Learn: A New Earth meets The Secret
STYLE/ CLEAR SHOE BOX
My mum recently gave me these boxes, they came flat and you put them
together, which is really simple, and they become clear shoe boxes.
For someone who is unorganised, but wants to be more organised like
me, they are the answer to all of your shoe worries. They are great,
you open your wardrobe and you can see straight up which shoes are
where. No more trawling through box after box, and maybe crushing a
few shoes in your rush to get ready for a night out, these boxes are
very simple but EXTREMELY helpful. They are very versitile and can
fit a number of shoes including high heels as well as platforms.
STYLE/ VICTORIA MASON
One of my very best friends is studying jewellery design, so I know the
type or hardship and trauma a lot of people have to go through to make
a single piece of jewelery. That is why I was so impressed when I came
across miss Victoria Mason. Her designs are beautiful and modern, you
see simple things from your childhood like paper airplanes, pencil
shavings and wooden chairs hanging off her necklaces. These peices I
am predicting will be big, Im sure we will see them in lots of magazines
and hanging of lots of stylish necks in no time at all.
READ/ ELEVEN MINUTES
If you are into reading or looking to get back into reading I recommend 'Eleven Minutes' by a wonderful author called Paulo Coelho. This book is one I have just finished and fallen in love with. The story follows a young girl on her travels, events occur that lead her to a life of prostitution, but from this she learns a lot about life and ends up wise and strong on the other side, maybe even falling in love. This book is deep, dark, wise and very informative. You can learn from the characters life without having to go through the same things in your own life.
BEAUTY/ PURE POPS LIPGLOSS
I have fall in love with Kate Moss' designs for topshop, they are cute, stylish, flirty, hot and very wearable. I would buy it whether it was or wasn't Kate Moss. The pieces do not look cheap and nasty like a lot of celebrity turned designer pieces can. Her latest collection for topshop called 'A Bohemian Summer' contains flowy tops, vintage looking jackets and hippie 1970s vests. I urge all you style obsessed ladies out there to check it out, via the website if you are in Australia like me, and fall in love with the collection.

MODELS/ Model of the Moment
Pania is a young model from Pert, Australia. She is probably best
known for her swimsuit shots, but my personal favourites are her
fashion shots. She seems to have a quality about her that is more
appealing then simply a swimsuit model. Come and read about this
young Aussie who is taking over the modeling world.
And here is the rest of it.
