MUSIC/ Red Gum

I think, I could possibly be the most nerdy Aussie (Australian) in the
history of blogging, but every time I hear this song it brings a tear
to my eye, not because I believe or support war, I think no one
should go to war, but I think that sometimes people feel obligated
to go to war and they are still growing up. After going to war,
these young men or women are often left to grow up with these
adult or destructive emotions, that they (not that should anyone)
ever have to deal with.

I also think, for people that have not grown up in Australia, this is
the best depiction of Aussie slang and aceent, mate :)

And here is the rest of it.

What song do you think best depicts your area of growing up?

I agree 100% with what you said about war, and it's such a shame that people feel obligated to risk their lives in such situations...

For me, the Spice Girls and other 90s pop were the soundtrack to growing up... Quite different to this, I know...

I know exactly what you mean with this song, I find it totally moving. THere is a rap cover done by the Herd which is surprisingly great as well, for some reason when I hear the cover version it makes it seem much closer to me personally
